Under The Patronage Of Mohammed bin Rashid, GMIS 2021 Will Be Held At Expo Dubai, Focusing On Future Innovations

The Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit (#GMIS2021) will be held on 22 and 23 November in conjunction with the fourth EXPO Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness the Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. Since the inaugural edition in Abu Dhabi in 2017, the UAE is the second time that the summit is going to take place.

The conference will provide representatives of the global manufacturers and technology industries with a forum to address developments that affect the future of the industry. This year’s theme is “Rewiring societies: repurposing digitization for prosperity”.

The goal of the Summit is to bring manufacturing at the center of economic regeneration and government policy making and use technology as an instrument for global cooperation. The hosting of #GMIS2021 at Expo Dubai puts industrialization at the center of global dialogue, enhancing the sector’s central role in promoting global stability and economic development.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology said, “We are pleased to host the fourth edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit in the UAE, especially at Expo Dubai, as this step comes in line with the UAE leadership’s vision to strengthen international cooperation and support initiatives that drive industrial progress. We are confident that hosting the Summit alongside Expo Dubai will give impetus to this important event that promotes cross-border collaboration to shape the future of industries and contribute to global economic growth. Furthermore, it highlights the distinguished position of the UAE and the pioneering role the country plays in supporting initiatives that serve the interests of humanity.”

A virtual meeting was held to comply with core policy goals for the fourth edition of the Summit by His Excellency Dr. Sultan al-Jaber, UAE Minister of Manufacturing and advanced technology; LI Yong, and Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The UAE/UNIDO joint effort, GMIS seeks to create bridges between suppliers, states, non-governmental organizations, innovators, and investors to help shape and concentrate the future of manufacturing.

The first two events of GMIS took place in Abu Dhabi in March 2017 and, in July 2019, in Yekaterinburg, Russia with over 3,000 delegates from over 40 countries attending the event. The third year of GMIS, along with the Hannover Messe 2020 trade fair, was originally planned for April 2020. However, because of constraints imposed to avoid coronavirus pandemic spread, it was delayed and later held online.

LI Yong, Director General of UNIDO, said: “UNIDO is pleased to receive the support and be in a strong partnership with the United Arab Emirates in our endeavor to promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development. This GMIS partnership with Dubai EXPO enables us to reach a global audience of policymakers, private sector companies, research partners and civil society organizations.

The #GMIS2021 agenda will discuss the main ways to change the future of development through the introduction of core technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, cloud computing and the 5th Generation Wireless Network (5G) technology and discusses more possibilities for the smooth convergence of human and machines.
