Qatar Airways Becomes The First In The Middle East To Trial IATA’s Travel Pass App

Qatar Airways released a notice stating, it has become one of the first airlines in the Middle East, that got approved to trial International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s Travel Pass app- A digital passport mobile app. 

As of 11 March 2021, Qatar Airways announced that passengers who are traveling from Doha to Istanbul on the airlines from 11 March will have trail the Travel Pass App.  The use of the digital passport app will not only make things easier and convenient but also give the passenger a relief that they are safe.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “As the world’s leading airline for safety, innovation and customer experience, we are the industry’s firmest advocate for introducing digital solutions to help passengers safely and seamlessly navigate complex and ever-changing entry restrictions across the globe”.

Along with the Covid-19  health regulations and updated information on their destination country, Travel Pass App also provides the passengers a contactless, secure and seamless travel experience.

According to the IATA Director General and CEO, Mr. Alexandre de Juniac said that once Qatar Airways will have a complete installation of the Travel Pass App in its route, it will set a new milestone for making travel safe and seamless.  Although governments are searching for trusted vaccination centers to authorize the digital passport, IATA assures that their users can feel safe if they see the “Okay to go” sign on the app.

Lately, Singapore Airlines was the first airline in the world to pilot IATA’s Travel Pass app. Also, Etihad and Emirates were the first airlines in the UAE to trail IATA’s Travel Pass concept. Hopefully, IATA will bring many airlines to join the IATA’s Travel Pass App and bring the aviation industry to life again.
