Flydubai Expands Its Service To Romania’s Second Largest City Cluj-Napoca From March

Flydubai, a Dubai-based airline announced on Thursday, the launch of its new route to Romania’s northwestern city Cluj-Napoca. The airline is scheduled to operate twice a week between Dubai International (DXB) and Avram Iancu International Airport Cluj (CLJ) starting from 20 March 2021. Avram Iancu International Airport Cluj (CLJ) is viewed as a necessary entry point to the north-western region of Romania.

At present, flydubai has already been operating a double daily service between Dubai International and Romanian capital Bucharest. With the start of flights to Cluj-Napoca in March, the airline will fly in the Romanian sky with a total of 16 weekly flights. Cluj-Napoca is the second largest city in Romania with the most dynamic economy and is the centre of innovation and business hub. The city has a vibrant culture, large number of historic castles, botanical gardens, museums, fortresses, universities and parks.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said: “we first started operating to Bucharest with four flights a week in 2012. Since then, flydubai has more than tripled its operations to the market as demand has grown for commercial and cargo traffic between Romania and the UAE. We are excited to offer more options for convenient direct air links to the market with the start of our flights to Cluj-Napoca and we look forward to further stimulating travel and trade flows in both directions.”

Emirates will codeshare on the route, offering travellers more connections through Dubai to 155 combined destinations served by both the airlines.

On 20 march the flight FZ 1219 will depart from DXB at 10:15 AM and land in CLJ at 13:55 PM. The return flight FZ 1220 will leave from the Avram Iancu International Airport at 14:45 PM and arrive in Dubai at 22:00 PM.

Return business class fares from DXB to CLJ start from AED 8,000 and economy class fares from AED 1,100.

There is also the opportunity for passengers to connect travel beyond on our network to popular destinations like Colombo, Malé and Zanzibar. The twice-weekly service will also benefit the Romanian expatriate population in the UAE to travel home more easily.” Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said.

As usual, passengers can either choose the Business Class or Economy Class. Passengers in Business as well as Economy Class can enjoy spacious seats, entertain themselves with the latest films and TV shows, and can taste a range of dining options.

Travellers are required to make sure that they are up to date with the regulations from the IATA Travel Centre for their whole journey. For protection against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Flydubai’s passenger experience has been redesigned to minimize crew and passenger contact to ensure safety. The airline has recently introduced extended multi-risk travel insurance that includes Covid-19 cover for passengers.
