Expo 2020 Dubai

Expo 2020 Dubai is the world ‘s greatest fair to demonstrate the best innovations and achievements of human mankind hosted by Dubai in UAE. It was originally scheduled on 20 October, 2020 – 10 April, 2021. It has been rescheduled to 1 October, 2021 – 31 March, 2022 due to ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Expo 2020 is going to be held in Dubai South near Al Maktoum International Airport covering 4.38 square kilometers. The expo is themed “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” with sub-themes: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. 

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) is the inter-governmental organisation that manages and supervises World Expos. London’s Great Exhibition was the first world expo held in 1851. Expos have been organized in different countries since then. The last world expo was held in Milan, Italy in 2015 and the next after Expo 2020 Dubai will be going to be held in Osaka, Kansai, Japan in 2025. 

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and ruler of the Emirate of Dubai said “In today’s highly interconnected world, a renewed vision of progress and development based on shared purpose and commitment is key. While a married human mind, an individual country, or a specific community is both unique and remarkable, it is by working collaboratively that we truly advance.” while bidding the expo.

World Expos are generally global events to promote international dialogue to progress and cooperation between people from all over the globe. Expo 2020 Dubai is also a global platform to find the investors, share innovations, seek collaborations and create new business connections. Dubai Expo 2020 is targeting to unlock the potentials to eradicate the social problems through the Expo live programs. It aims to share ideas among each and every visitor, inspire them to act and shape the future.  It is also promoting the capacity of youths and providing the opportunities to showcase their talents in the global arena. 

192 countries will be participating and having country pavilions in the Expo 2020. Approximately 25 millions visitors are supposed to visit it expecting 150 thousands visitors per day. 70% of the visitors are expected to visit it from foreign countries. 

Expo 2020 Dubai is also supposed to mark the UAE 50th anniversary of an independent country in 2021. It is one of the most awaited events for UAE and Arabian countries as the global community is gathering for partnership to face the new challenges as well as creating a milestone for science and technology.
